Encore Capital Group's Employees Continue Annual Habit of Changing Lives With Habitat for Humanity

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Encore Capital Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:ECPG), an international specialty finance company, today announced it will hold its third annual Global Volunteer Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 in San Diego, CA, Phoenix, AZ, San Antonio, TX, Warren, MI and St. Cloud, MN and six others (*see below) when more than 500 employees will give up their Saturday to give back to their communities.

Encore employees across the United States and throughout the globe will build homes for families hammer-in-hand with Habitat for Humanity—an international non-profit that provides affordable homes to low-income families around the world. "Helping others to become more empowered and onto a road of financial well-being is one of the goals of Encore's corporate social responsibility efforts," said Sheryl Wright, Encore's Senior Vice President of External Affairs. "We are pleased to support Habitat for Humanity in its efforts to provide housing for families through not only a cash donation, but the thousands of volunteer hours our Encore team is providing to Habitat builds all over the globe."

It's helping to build homes such as the one the Consuegra family will move into—allowing them to move out of the house where their 9 year old son currently sleeps in the hallway— that motivates Encore employees to volunteer. "We're so excited. This house is a dream come true. It's a foundation for my family," said Pavel Consuegra, a new Habitat homeowner in El Cajon, California. "Our lives are going to be changed forever."

Encore's Corporate Social Responsibility program, launched in 2013, focuses on economic empowerment and strives to help improve communities through better education, job training and basic support services.

"When you provide a family an opportunity to purchase their own home, you transform that family for generations to come," said Lori Holt Pfeiler, President/CEO of San Diego Habitat for Humanity. "We bring hardworking families, dedicated volunteers, and generous sponsors together to build simple, decent, safe and affordable housing for local families in need. This mission is possible because of the support of great partners like Encore Capital, and we are so grateful that they are joining us once again toward this goal."

Employees at Encore's international locations in New Delhi, India and San Jose, Costa Rica will also participate through voluntary work and financial support in benefit of Literacy India and Hábitat para la Humanidad Costa Rica, respectively.
